EQUIPMENT
- Use a prime lens for video or photos. Avoid using wide angle lenses. Using a camera that has a video fixed lens, like an Sony EX-1, will distort the view even if you are a little bit off.
-Shoot wide and zoom in to frame the shots later on in post for easier matching. Just don’t plan on zooming in a huge amount…
-Write down the F-stop, ND filter, shutter speed, etc. so everything matches in both shots.
-Review your ‘Before’ shots on location in your camera viewfinder to see if the ‘after’ shot matches.
SHOOTING OUTSIDE
-Shoot at the same time of day for both before and after shots so the shadows and light will be identical.
-Keep in mind plants will grow and obscure your ‘after’ shot.
EDITING
-Mesh Warp filter in After Effects helps match your shots for video. Photoshop will be your friend while matching photos.
